...It suddenly occurs to me that this meme can be used to make oneself look like the most awful literary snob. But I really do plan on reading A Town Like Alice someday, honest I do.
So I'm up to 35 books...not bad at all, considering I pretty much left off serious fiction a few years ago to concentrate on history/biography.
Also, there are quite a few titles in there I started with the best intentions, but for some reason or another just couldn't get thru - Possession, Lolita, The Bell Jar, Middlemarch. Then there are those I know well just from browsing 'the good parts', including most of Thomas Hardy and Les Miserables. Oh, and does having Molly Bloom's soliliquy pretty much memorised count towards Ulysses? 'Cause otherwise, this would seem a downright cruel and unusual requirement.
Finally, I do not quite see why I should be penalised re: the complete works of Shakespeare, after making it thru King Lear intact, only to be stifled by Titus Andronicus. Ditto the Narnia series, for losing interest after The Magician's Nephew & L,W&W.
[yawns] OK, OK, shutting up for now. Shoe finds some new stuff to read, not much else going on, film at 11.
