Gack.
I just bundled one of my essays (the one on Holiday, which I've always particularly liked) with a prototype column idea and sent the whole off to my former editor.
Now I am terrified that I just did something really, really gauche and stupid, and need to go hide under the covers. G'nite.

And why would it be gauche or stupid? He asked for columns, you're responding with the best you've got. It's no more gauche or stupid than applying for a job for which the interviewer may or may not decide you are suitably qualified...

I know, I know. It's not even like this is the formal column proposal - just a request for feedback.
It's just that I'm by no means convinced the column idea is the best I've got. I was rereading old posts and pondering a sort of 'innocent abroad in pop-culture' idea - you know, snarky comments on whatever strikes me as off about the hype. It seemed cute, and fun, and certainly I was able to hold my own with it on TWoP. So I polished up a relevant post and sent it off...
...that's when the whole gauche thing hit. :)
